TRANSFER : PSG Enter Race for Osimhen’s Signature

PSG have revived their interest in Victor Osimhen, with their president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi and his directors in direct contact with Napoli chief, Aurelio De Laurentiis to discuss a deal for the Nigerian striker.

The Ligue One giants were the first to express interest in the 25-year-old as an ideal replacement for Kylian Mbappe, who is on the cusp of finalising his dream move to Real Madrid, but the interest cooled off before the season’s end.

Having failed to find a more suitable replacement for the France striker, the Parisiens are back in the hunt for the former Lille, as reported by Il Mattino via TMW.

Osimhen is widely expected to be sold in a high-profile transfer this summer, having a €130 million release clause in his new contract with Napoli after he played a crucial role in the club’s Scudetto success last season and maintained a high level of form this term, despite the troubles on the pitch.

A long list of clubs are interested in snapping up Osimhen this summer, including Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United, and De Laurentiis has made it apparent that Napoli aren’t willing to offer any discounts, wanting his release clause to be activated.

The relationship between the two presidents is strong, and the Parisian giants are now seemingly in pole position in the race for the Nigerian striker’s signature. The recent departure of Kylian Mbappe has increased their need for a statement signing this summer.

Osimhen’s 12 million euros annual salary has deterred some of his suitors from sealing a deal, with Chelsea recently backing down after agreeing to a Romelu Lukaku plus 80 million euros swap deal.
