Euro 2024: England held to 1-1 draw by Denmark after Hjulmand stunner

England missed the chance to reach last 16 of the Euro 2024 Championship as they are held to a 1-1 draw by Denmark at the Frankfurt Arena, Thursday evening.

 

Despite the setback, however, the Three Lions still top Group C with four points and are in a strong position to go through with a fixture against Slovenia on Tuesday, their last game in the group.

 

England have won just two of their last seven games in both competitive and non-competitive outings. They lost to Iceland and Brazil, have drawn with North Macedonia, Belgium and Denmark. The wins came against Bosnia-Herzegovina, and then against Serbia in their first Euro 2024 game on Sunday.

 

Harry Kane put England ahead in the 18th minute but it did not take ong for the Danes to restore parity as Morten Hjulmand let fly a powerful shot in the 34th minute.

 

Gareth Southgate finally introduced previouly eligible Anglo-Nigerian, Eberechi Eze in the second half for his official debut after three caps playig in a Euro 2024 qualifier and two friednlies.
