The Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG Old Pen Cinema parish in Lagos, has tasked religious organisations on collaborating with government to positively transform their communities.
Pastor Oyitso Brown said this as the church donated five brand new desktop computers to Vetland Junior Grammar School in Oko Oba, Lagos.
The religious organisation, which also refurbished nine old computers, renovated and upgraded the school’s computer laboratory.
Speaking at the event, Brown said: “We must cooperate with government to impact our neighbourhood. We have done a lot with respect to education in Lagos State. We have built schools from scratch, refurbished and renovated schools, as part of our christian social responsibility of the Redeemed Church. The process is continuous.”
Appreciating the donors for the gestures, Tutor-Tutor-General/ Permanent Secretary, Lagos Educational District one, Bashir Adebowale, said: “The state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is particularly concerned with education, children, and their well-being. That is why an astounding number of projects are carried out in the field of education each year. The governor is focused on education driven by technology which is a key pillar of the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus agenda.
“We are continuing again with the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus agenda. social inclusion, gender equality, and youth development because the state Governor is particularly about the development of children. That is why he is leaving no stone untouched to ensure children’s well-being is attained to the fullest, no child should be left. Vetland school is very unique in every sense, it is a model of what education should be in Africa.”
Also speaking, Principal of Vetland Junior Grammar School, Latunde-Dada A.M, said: “Government cannot sustain educational infrastructure alone, that is why private partnership especially from stakeholders in the Education sector is vital.
“Vetland Junior Grammar School,is a great citadel of learning that happens to be the face of Lagos. It is a distinguished digitized modular board. It is the first of its kind in Lagos state. It was commissioned exactly two years ago in June 2022. The government spent so much to bring this facility into Agege area so that it can be enjoyed by the masses. The Governor of Lagos state with the T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda with the ‘E’ meaning Education and Technology has made this possible and flexible in Education District 1”
The highlight of the event was the presentation of over 500 food packs during the crusade at Pen Cinema Agege under bridge.
