Following the triumphant breakthrough of ‘Despicable Me 4’ at the box office, Illumination and Universal revealed their intentions for ‘Minions 3’, slated for release on June 30, 2027.

Directed by Pierre Coffin, the seasoned director of ‘Despicable Me’/ ‘Minions’, who has also voiced the Minions since their 2010 cinematic debut, Minions 3 is written by Brian Lynch.

Bill Ryan, who executive produced ‘The Super Mario Bros’ movie, and Chris Meledandri, the founder and CEO of Illumination, will produce the movie.

Over a decade after their inception, Illumination proudly declares that the Minions have become the most recognisable animated characters of their era, propelling the company’s Despicable Me and Minions films to a nearly $5 billion global box office total.

The franchise has two Oscar-nominated films, ‘Despicable Me 2’ and ‘Despicable Me 3’, which together generated over $1 billion at the worldwide box office, and Minions, one of the highest-grossing animated films ever.

In 2022, ‘Minions: The Rise of Gru’ achieved the greatest opening weekend grossing in domestic history on July 4th, shattering previous box office records. With a $230 million global opening, this year’s Despicable Me 4 proved that the Minions still had a lot of life left on the big screen.
