The Olympics is here and countries all over the world are sending their very best athletes to represent them. One of such representatives is Nigeria’s own Michelle Chiwendu Alozie, who is part of the Super Falcons team in Paris, playing in the right back position.

Michelle Chinwendu Alozie, was born on April 28, 1997, and plays as a forward for the Houston Dash in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). Raised in Apple Valley, California, Alozie was born in Imo State Nigeria, and attended Granite Hills High School back in her hometown here in Nigeria before continuing her education and soccer career at Yale University.

She played for the Yale Bulldogs from 2015 to 2018, although her senior season was affected by a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Following her time at Yale, Alozie transferred as a graduate student to the University of Tennessee, where she played for the Tennessee Volunteers.

On June 16, 2023, Alozie was included in the 23-player Nigerian squad for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. During the tournament, she played every minute for Nigeria, which was eliminated in the Round of 16 after a penalty shootout against England following a 0–0 draw.

In December 2023, Alozie was named to the CAF Women’s Africa Best XI, recognizing her as one of the top African football players.

In addition to her athletic career, Alozie is noted for her involvement in community service and educational initiatives, supporting various outreach programs aimed at promoting youth development and women’s empowerment.
