Don’t protest, Igbo social Cultural group task Igbo’s in Lagos

The Igbo Speaking Community in Lagos in conjunction with its Council Of Ndieze Ndigbo Lagos, has called on all Ndigbo in Lagos State and across Nigeria not to join in the proposed protest against the Nigerian State.


Leaders of the Social Cultural organization of Ndigbo which is spread across the fifty seven (57) Local Government and Local Council Development Areas in Lagos made the call at the weekend while briefing news men on the state of the nation.


Speaking on the planned protest, Eze Chika Nwokedi, Ezendigbo Ijegun Ijeododo and Chairman, Council of ‘Ndieze’ Lagos, stated that the organization understands the plight of Nigerians and “we understands the hard economic challenges, we understands your feelings which is general amongst Nigerians, we understands what we all pass through especially with the high costs of foodstuffs and social amenities in our markets. No Nigerian is exempted from these economic challenges.”


Explaining further, Nwokedi noted that things are tough for majority of Nigerian homes but “we still believe in the President and Commander in Chief Of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic Of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, and his Economic team who are working tirelessly to see to better changes in the economic challenges facing Nigerians.”


In his speech, the president general, Igbo speaking community, Chief Sunday Udeh urged Ndigbo and the good people of Nigeria to go about their normal businesses come August 1st to 10th “without fear as we believe in our security agencies to do the needful in the face of any attack against Nigerians and the Nigerian State”


He said that the Igbo speaking community in Lagos and the council of Ndieze Ndigbo, Lagos State says no to any form of national protest and call on all Igbo sons and daughters to stay away from it especially now that we are mourning the death of our National Leader Chief Dr. Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu.”


According to him, “The Protest which we believe is being masterminded by unpatriotic Nigerians which is likely to cause anarchy, destruction of lives and properties and will not add any positive/ meaningful change to the present economic issues on ground but will add to our pain and cause us agony.”
