Chelsea are now considering a move to re-sign Portuguese forward Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid after talks for Spain striker of Nigerian descent Samu Omorodion collapsed.
Discussions over personal terms between the Blues and Atletico’s 20-year-old Omorodion who represented Spain at the Paris Olympics broke down despite a £34.5m fee having been agreed upon last week.
Chelsea had been linked with Super Eagles star and current African Footballer of the Year holder, Victor Osimhen, but with the acquisition of 10 players already this summer including Pedro Neto from Wolves, the chances of Osimhen arriving at Stamford Bridge are limited.
Omorodion had even arrived in London for his medicals before the plans were called off.
Several UK publications like ESPN and BBC on Monday hint that Felix is keen on a return to Chelsea where he was on loan for six months in the 2022/2023 season.
Chelsea are however still hopeful of getting Osimhen in exchange for Romelu Lukaku who hopes to reunite with former manager at Inter Milan, Antonio Conte, now in charge of Napoli.
