Chelsea has reportedly reinitiated discussions for a loan deal to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, according to London Evening Standard.
Osimhen is now a top priority for Chelsea as they seek a new number nine to bolster their attacking lineup.
Although Osimhen prefers a move to Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea hopes to persuade him to join the team at Stamford Bridge. Osimhen has recently turned down an offer from Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia, with his agent stating that the 25-year-old has “much to achieve in Europe” before considering a move abroad.
Chelsea’s pursuit of Osimhen indicates their desire to strengthen their squad for a competitive season ahead. With Osimhen’s impressive goal-scoring record, he would be a valuable addition to Chelsea’s lineup, providing a strong attacking threat.
Meanwhile, PSG may yet be busy in the final days of the current transfer window.
With Milan Skriniar all set to move to Saudi Arabia, just one year after joining PSG, a centre-back could yet arrive between now and the transfer deadline in four days. However, as reported by Le Parisien, two players aren’t expected to arrive at the Parc des Princes: Victor Osimhen and Jadon Sancho.
PSG informed the latter’s representatives last week that they wouldn’t be taking their interest any further, at least not during the current window.
Osimhen was a more concrete target earlier in the window, with the Nigerian forward reportedly keen to make the move to the Parc des Princes.
It was thought that Gonçalo Ramos’ injury, which is set to rule him out for several months, would see the interest in Osimhen reignited, but not so.
Despite that injury, PSG did not reignite their interest and there was no further contact with the Napoli forward, who still remains a target for Chelsea.
