Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen’s transfer to Turkish Super Lig side, Galatasary from former Serie A champions, Napoli, has been made official and he has stated moving to the club was easy choice to make.

The official websites of both clubs Wednesday night, published news on the unveiling of the African Footballer of the Year.

Osimhen in an interview with the Galatasary website as tranaslated into English language, revealed that it was not hard to decide if he wanted to move.

Osimhen, who will wear the number 45 jersey stated that he spoke to fellow Nigerian international, Henry Onyekuru, who previously played for the club, as well as followed the progress of former Napoli teammate, Dries Mertens.

“When I heard about Galatasaray’s interest, it was an easy decision for me. I knew how big Galatasaray was, how much of a family it felt like. It has incredible fans.

“Henry Onyekuru is my friend. He played for Galatasaray. He told me how great the club, the fans and the people here are.

“So it was an easy decision for me. When I landed at the airport, the fans welcomed me with such excitement, and I was very happy about that. Such things are important for a player. I want to do everything I can for them. I am eagerly waiting for this project. I am very excited.

“Dries Mertens was always with me when I went to Italy. He was like a big brother to me. He is someone I respect very much, I am very excited to be his teammate again. I am looking forward to meeting my teammates as soon as possible”, he said.

Osimhen added that he also watched Galatasaray’s matches a lot: “I was already watching Galatasaray matches. I was following how Mertens was playing since he came here. I was following how he was developing as a person and as a player. Their interaction with the fans when they score goals and win matches is also exciting. Now I hope that our fans will support me after every goal. I am waiting with excitement, ” he said.

Osimhen then gave a message to his new club fans and concluded his words by saying, “ Greetings Galatasaray fans. Osimhen is here. Thank you very much for welcoming me at the airport. It was a wonderful welcome. I will do everything I can and dedicate myself to you.”

Galatasaray Sports Club President, Dursun Aydın Özbek, made the following comment regarding the transfer:

“Victor is a very important transfer for Galatasaray and Turkish sports. Especially in our struggle in Europe and our goal of becoming the fifth star in Turkey, Galatasaray has very high expectations from him. 

“I am sure he will meet these expectations. As a Galatasaray fan, having such world-star footballers in our club pleases me, the board of directors and Galatasaray fans a lot. I wish him success. Hopefully, he will make a great contribution to our struggle this year.”
