Nigeria’s Super Eagles interim coach, Austin Eguavoen, has said he has the players who are ready to counter any formation or style Rwanda comes up with.
On Tuesday, the Eagles will face Rwanda on matchday 2 of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers in Kigali.
While the Eagles will go into the game on the back of a 3-0 win against Benin Republic, Rwanda held Libya to a 1-1 draw away.
Speaking ahead of the game in his presser, Eguavoen said, “We have quality players who can play different styles of football, different formations, different systems.” So whatever formation or system Rwanda comes up with, we have the personnel to deal with it.
“Our country is full of expectations; it doesn’t matter who we play; they expect us to win. We play people with respect, but we will get the result.“
Eguavoen, however, added that the Eagles will approach the game with respect against the Rwandans.
“They respect us, and we do respect them because you don’t look down on people because football has really improved; you can get shocked. Every country that plays against Nigeria always tries to raise their game, so we have to be ready as well.”
