Ex president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, has revealed that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) will make a pronouncement on the botched 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying tie between Libya and Nigeria before this weekend.
Pinnick, who is currently a member of the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) council, said the matter was extensively discussed during CAF’s executive committee meeting in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, this week.
“CAF are taking this issue very seriously,” Pinnick told Arise TV.
“CAF President Patrice Motsepe personifies integrity and pan-Africanism.
“We deliberated on it in our executive committee meeting. It was a subject of intense discussion.
“We pointed out the fact that this is very serious because anything could have happened (to the Super Eagles).
“So, CAF is taking the matter seriously, and we’re not leaving any stone unturned.”
It would be recalled that Super Eagles players and officials were stranded at the Al Abaq Airport for several hours on their arrival in the North African country for the clash with the Mediterranean Knights.
The players later boycotted the game due to the inhumane treatment meted out to them by Libyan authorities.
