Lagos was ablaze with colour and creativity this weekend as the iconic Yeside Laguda brand unveiled its Spring/Summer 2025 collection, Tapestry.
webteam@Ipledge2nigeria brings you update from the exclusive event, held in the heart of Ikoyi, which brought together the crème de la crème of the fashion world to celebrate a dazzling fusion of African heritage and contemporary elegance.
The runway was a symphony of textures, colors, and stories.
Models floated down the catwalk in whimsical, layered designs that danced between flirtatious and bold, weaving narratives of culture, identity, and artistry into every stitch.
The collection, an ode to African heritage, offered distinctive pieces crafted for those who seek authenticity with a touch of timeless glamour.
The evening also spotlighted Ewa, a standout line of scarves and headbands inspired by African folklore. Made from luxurious silks and traditional materials, Ewa transformed accessories into storytellers, each piece whispering tales of heritage and pride.
“At Yeside Laguda, we believe fashion is more than fabric—it’s a language, a way to project our culture to the world,”
Laguda explained. “With Tapestry, we celebrate the interplay between the old and the new, blending artisanal techniques with contemporary innovation. It’s a statement of where we come from and where we’re going.”
Tapestry experiments boldly, combining silks, linen silks, Adire, batik, and Ankara fabrics in surprising and sophisticated ways. Hand-beading, intricate embroidery, and layered textures elevate each design to a work of art, while sustainable practices anchor the collection in purpose.
“Our aim is to create fabrics that are unmistakably African but adaptable to global sensibilities,” Laguda shared.
“Every piece in Tapestry is rooted in tradition yet speaks to the future, reminding us that our heritage is both timeless and relevant.”
Fashion industry leaders were effusive in their praise. Elaine Shobanjo, CEO of Shomaya Beauty, captured the room’s sentiment:
“Yeside is always ahead of the curve. Her designs are vibrant, inclusive, and endlessly innovative. She reimagines Adire and other traditional fabrics in ways no one else does.
This collection is a masterpiece.”
As the show concluded, the applause wasn’t just for the dazzling garments but for what Tapestry represents: a celebration of diversity, unity, and the beauty of being unapologetically African. Yeside Laguda’s SS25 collection isn’t just fashion—it’s a cultural movement, one that invites the world to appreciate the richness of African artistry.
