A lawsuit alleging defamation has been filed by the award-winning gospel singer Mercy Chinwo against the social media critic Vincent Martins Otse, aka Verydarkman.
The gospel singer has sued VeryDarkMan, in a recent development in the Mercy Chinwo-EeZee Tee case.
This comes just a month after the contentious creator accused Chinwo of stealing money from performances without paying her former record label, which was owned by Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, better known by his stage name Eezee Tee.
In his call-out, VDM claimed that Chinwo had stolen $345,000 associated with Eezee Tee.
Pelumi Olajengbesi, Mercy Chinwo’s attorney, filed the lawsuit, which includes a requirement that VDM remove, retract, and publicly apologise for the alleged defamatory remarks made against the gospel singer.
Also, Pelumi Olajengbesi claims that despite the social media critic’s lack of direct involvement in the dispute, VeryDarkMan nonetheless unfairly and damagingly portrayed the singer.
He claimed that she was secretly collecting payment from performances without sending the money to her previous label, EeZee Conceptz.
Olajengbesi’s Statement
Olajengbesi said in a statement that VDM not involved in the issue between Mercy Chinwo and EeZee Tee.
Read statement bellow:
“The claimant avers that she has neither had any form of relationship with the defendant nor was the defendant involved in the issue between the claimant and EeZee Tee in any material particular,” Mr Olajengbesi stated in the document.
“The claimant avers that the statements made by the defendant in the videos he published on his Instagram page gave the false impression that he was personally involved in the matter.
“However, these statements were not only false but also damning and injurious to the claimant’s public image and reputation,” Olajengbesi said.
Mercy Chinwo’s team has provided the court with papers to support her demands, demonstrating that VDM’s claims are unsupported. These consist of payment receipts, emails, and so forth.
Recall that a Federal High Court in Lagos on February 17, 2025, maintained that the arrest warrant against EeZee Tee over alleged fraudulent conversion subsists.
The gospel musician’s legal team, Law Corridor, filed the fresh complaint, dated March 3, 2025, before the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja.
