Nigeria has received a consignment of 200 ventilators from the United States government.
It would be recalled that President Donald Trump had promised to send ventilators to Nigeria, to help support the fight against COVID-19.
Receiving the donations from the US Agency for International Development USAID on behalf of the Nigerian government on Tuesday, Health minister Dr. Osagie Ehanire said the devices will be used to shore up Nigeria’s Intensive Care response capability.
“We particularly appreciate that this gift comes against the backdrop that the U.S. is also fighting its own fierce battle against the COVID-19 plague.
“We shall use the ventilators to shore up our Intensive Care response capability, courtesy of President Donald Trump, and people of the United States of America.
“These 200 ventilators, as we all know by now, are a critical component of the response strategy to save the lives of persons who have been severely impacted by this viral infection,” Dr. Ehanire, said in his remarks.
