The Lagos State Police Command says no fewer than eight domestic workers of famous singer, David Adeleke, fondly called Davido, have been brought in for questioning over the death of his three-year-old son, Ifeanyi.
It was gathered that the workers of the singer were arrested by the police on Tuesday.
It would be recalled that Ifeanyi, who turned three on October 20, reportedly drowned in a swimming pool at his residence in the Banana Island area of Lagos State on Monday.
The little boy was said to have been rushed to a hospital in the Lekki area of the state where he was confirmed dead
The DMW boss and the mother of the boy, Chioma Rowland, were said to have traveled for a family gathering in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on Monday and left Ifeanyi with his minders.
Speaking on the incident on Tuesday, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said eight domestic workers of Davido were brought in by the police operatives for questioning.
Hundeyin, however, said anyone not found culpable would be released immediately, adding the ones found culpable of negligence would be held back to assist the command in the ongoing investigation.
“About eight of them were brought in to narrate their version of what happened to assist us in getting what really happened.
“At the end of their narrations, whoever that is found not guilty of negligence or not culpable in anyway will be allowed to go.
The victim’s family had yet to react to the tragic development as of the time this report was filed.
However, since the news of Ifeanyi’s rumored death became public knowledge, Nigerians, particularly entertainment lovers, had been outraged and traumatised by the development.
A number of celebrities, have posted cryptic messages that appear to confirm the death of Ifeanyi. Some of which are comedians Ayo Makun, Lasisi Elenu, among others.
Makun, in an Instagram post early Tuesday, wrote, “The death of a child is unnatural, unfair, and tragic, this hit me so bad.”
Lasisi Elenu also posted, “Father heal your children’s heart from this pain, strengthen them in such a dark and hurtful time oh Lord.”
