Bayern Munich secured their spot in the Champions League quarterfinals with a 2-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday, thanks to goals from Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting and Serge Gnabry.
Choupo-Moting, who had played for PSG from 2018 to 2020, scored in the 61st minute with a tap-in from a Leon Goretzka assist. The goal was a satisfying moment for the 33-year-old forward against his former club.
Bayern Munich continued to dominate, and substitute Gnabry sealed the win with a breakaway goal in the 89th minute. The victory cemented Bayern’s position as one of the favourites for the title going into the quarterfinals.
Meanwhile, PSG, which boasts a star-studded squad including world champions Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe, was unable to mount a comeback and will have to wait another year for a shot at Europe’s premier club trophy.
The quarterfinal draw is set to take place on March 17, and Bayern Munich’s impressive performance has put them in a strong position as they look to continue their Champions League campaign.
