Turkish prosecutors want Faruk Fatih zer, the founder and CEO of the now-defunct cryptocurrency exchange Thodex, to serve a prison term of 12,142 to 40,462 years.

Tuesday’s hearing at the Anatolian 9th High Criminal Court in Istanbul included Zer, five defendants who were in custody, the complainants, and attorneys for the parties concerned.

 

On August 30, 2022, Faruk Fatih zer was found in Albania after being wanted on a red notice.

The 27-year-old Özer had fled Turkey the previous year, leaving investors unable to access their funds.

Turkey issued an international arrest warrant for Özer after reports surfaced that he had fled with approximately $2 billion worth of cryptocurrency stolen from Thodex.
