Tony Khan, the chief executive officer of Fulham, has praised Nigerian defender Calvin Bassey.

On Friday night, the Whites revealed Bassey had signed a four-year deal with Eredivisie team Ajax Amsterdam.

Tosin Adarabioyo, who is 23 years old, will be replaced by the young man in the group.

The adaptable defender was signed by Fulham ahead of Brighton & Hove Albion, another Premier League team.

Bassey received praise from Khan, who called him a valuable addition to the team.

He told the club’s official website, “I’m thrilled to welcome Calvin Bassey to Fulham Football Club!”

“He’s a young and versatile defender; a homegrown player who developed at Leicester City’s academy before moving on to play for Rangers and then for Ajax, as well as Nigeria’s national team.”

Bassey spent just one season at Ajax. He made 39 appearances, with one goal and five assists to his name.
