The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and three of its top officials are the targets of a lawsuit filed by Kenneth Udeze, a party faction chairman, against the Action Alliance, or AA.

Adekunle Rufai Omo-Aje, the party’s national chairman, revealed that Udeze had applied for Form 48 against INEC and its chairman, Prof. Mahmoud Yakubu, before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

In the lawsuit with the file number FCT/HC/CV/174/2022, he claimed that Udeze had also joined Mr. Aminu Idris, the INEC Director in charge of political party monitoring and liaison, and Dr. Tanimu Mohammed, the Director in charge of litigation and prosecution.

According to Omo-Aje, “Udeze and his co-travellers are on their own and have no right to represent the party at any level, having been expelled from the party a long time ago.

“The National chairman of the party is the only authentic and recognized person to represent the party at any level on any issue that affects the party and he is not a party to any suit against the Election umpire.”

The statement claimed that some courts of competent jurisdiction, including an Ogun State High Court, the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, and the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal had ordered INEC to recognize Omo-Aje as the national chairman of the AA.
