Victor Osimhen has been persuaded by Mike Emenalo, a former technical director at Chelsea, to leave Napoli and join the Saudi Arabia Professional Football League.
Osimhen is a player who the Saudi club Al Hilal is interested in, and they recently had two offers for the striker rejected by Serie A champions Napoli.
A new contract with Napoli is now being negotiated by the 24-year-old.
Emenalo, who is now the director of football of the Saudi Pro League, has urged his compatriot to consider a move to the lucrative league.
“Osimhen is Nigerian like me.
“For me, he is great, a fantastic football artist. Would I want him here in this league? Sure, I’d like to. I’m sure it would be wonderful.
“I am sure that Napoli will manage, they will overcome it and will be able to find another Nigerian who is just as strong,” Emenalo told Corriere dello Sport.
Osimhen was top scorer in Serie A last season with 26 goals.
The striker was the first Nigerian to achieve the feat.
