Erling Haaland of Manchester City, who scored a goal in his team’s 3-2 victory over RB Leipzig on Tuesday, broke the previous record for the UEFA Champions League.

With his goal against RB Leipzig, Haaland reached his 40th Champions League goal total.

The Norway international reached the milestone in just 35 games.

With his most recent goal, he made history as the youngest player to ever record 40 goals in the Champions League in just 35 games.

Ruud van Nistelrooy, a former striker for Manchester United, needed 45 games to reach that position before he was surpassed.

Haaland also beat the mark held by his contemporary, Kylian Mbappe.

While two of the best goal scorers of the modern age, Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski, need 61 games apiece, Mbappe is third fastest, having played 59 games.
