Nigeria striker Cyriel Dessers inspired Rangers to a 2-0 home win over fellow Scottish side St. Johnstone on Wednesday night.
The Nigerian found the net on the eve of being named in Nigeria’s 40-man Provisional list for the AFCON 2024 in Ivory Coast.
Following the pressure Rangers evoked in the game, Dessers found the breakthrough goal for them thanks to an assist from James Tavernier in the 28th minute of the game.
Rangers dominance led to frustration on the pitch as St. Johnstone’s winger Diallang Jaiyesimi was sent off in the 33rd minute of the game with a straight red card.
It finished 1-0 to Rangers at the break. However, James Tavernier would get his name on the score sheet as he converted from the Penalty spot to make it 2-0 for Rangers.
The Penalty was awarded as Dessers was brought down in the box. Tavernier scored the goal in the 84th minute of the game.
