The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has released the official groups for the upcoming TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 tournament set to be held in Morocco.
The official CAF draw was done in Johannesburg, South Africa today, July 4, 2024.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria who finished as runners-up in the last competition were placed in Group D alongside Benin Republic, Libya, and Rwanda.
48 African nations will compete to get to the 35th iteration of the biennial Africa showcase in an attempt to unseat Ivory Coast, the reigning champions.
The top two finishers in each of the eleven groups—none of which include Morocco, the tournament host—will advance to the finals.
The highly sought-after trophy will return to action as the next TotalEnergies CAF AFCON 2025 qualifiers get underway in Morocco who are second-time hosts since 1988.
The largest sporting event in the continent, the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations, will take place from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
