Nigeria’s Super Eagles’ winger, Moses Simon, has emerged Nantes’ Player of the Month for August, just as Nigeria prepares for their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
Simon secured the accolade by garnering 43% of the votes, outpacing teammates Alban Lafont, Matthis Abline, and Nathan Zézé.
During August, Simon showcased exceptional form, scoring two goals in three matches, netted against AJ Auxerre, and added another in a 3-1 victory over Montpellier.
He has started every single game played by the Canaries in the French top flight in the new season, logging 237 minutes across the matches.
The former Levante player will be presented with the award on September 15, 2024, prior to Nantes’ match against Stade de Reims at La Beaujoire.
The 29-year-old winger will be looking to continue his impressive performance on the international stage when Nigeria takes on Benin in Uyo this Saturday, marking the beginning of their 2025 AFCON qualifying campaign.
Simon was not involved in the World Cup qualifying fixtures against Benin and South Africa in June 2024 as he was recovering from the injury he sustained in a friendly versus Mali in Marrakech, Morocco.
Following the match against Benin, Nigeria will travel to Kigali to face Rwanda on September 10 at Amahoro Stadium.
